Posted - 08 June 2012 : 12:45:36 I have registered to go bankrupt and have completed all necessary forms, yet I am struggling to get all the money together. I am having problems with my health and have been offered by a family friend to stay with them in spain until my health has improved. I will be unemployed when I return in october. would it be better to do it before going away or once I return? I would be able to afford it by claiming my tax back from the months I have worked so far this year. |

Posted - 08 June 2012 : 22:41:04 I would also like to add, that I was experiencing health problems that I wasn't able to attribute to my situation until after I declared bankruptcy.
I obviously can't say 100% that my problems were down to pre BR, but I can say they went away almost immediately, and haven't as yet returned.
Good luck whatever you choose Abbie.

Posted - 08 June 2012 : 22:26:05 As Viki says, take a few months out to review everything - save up the fees and then declare BR when you get back.

Posted - 08 June 2012 : 22:20:18 As has been said, its up to you. After filing for BR most people have their interview with the Official Receiver by telephone quite soon after.
In my case I had an interview with the OR a couple of hours filing at court. Since then, everything I have done has been over the phone or via email (including scanned copies of documents etc).
When I have been away from home, I have advised my trustee, and they have sent letters by 'snail' mail and copies via email.
Maybe that would be an option for you too? At least you could start proceedings earlier, and improve your health abroad. Just an idea, but whatever you choose, I hope it all works out and your health improves as well.

Posted - 08 June 2012 : 15:15:22 Hi, it's really up to you. It won't make any difference to your bankruptcy as you are only going on holiday, you are not going to live there. I hope you recover soon.
