My fiancee and I are to be married next month. We will be letting a house for the next year or so, when I will then apply for a sole mortgage. She was declared bankrupt 18 months ago and has now been discharged. Will our joint tenancy agreement (renting) have an adverse effect on my application for a sole mortgage in the future? We have no financial ties, but I am concerned that sharing a tenancy agreement will affect my application for a mortgage. I have no connection to her bankruptcy with no financial ties to her at the moment. Thanks in advance. J.

If you struggle to get a high street mortgage then you could always try Ryan who is an expert on the forum. He has been instrumental in getting several people on the sister forum a mortgage.

His details can be found under the expert link on the left hand side of the page. Give him a call when you are ready. The advice is free.

I think there will be financial implications even if you apply for a sole mortgage unfortunately :-(

I strongly suggest you seek independent financial advise.
Your local CAB or other.

Hope all goes well :-)

As far as I am aware, any joint financial dealings will impact on you both.
