Posted - 18 July 2012 : 10:32:48 Hi to everyone. I`m a student in my first year of my degree course. I have debts of over £20000 which I have no realistic chance of paying in the near future. I am considering bankruptcy as this would clear my debts ( not including my student loan I know ) . If my only income was my student loan would I be liable to an IPA? Krystyna

Posted - 18 July 2012 : 12:56:53 Thank you. It has given me some comfort to know that an IPA is unlikely. Without going into detail the cause of my debt was not due to reckless spending merely a poorly judged investment. My degree course has given me something new to aim for.

Agree that you would not have to pay an IPA.
Good luck with the degree.

On face value, if your only income was a student loan, that wouldn't be used for an IPA.
