Posted - 23 August 2012 : 13:50:36 I declared myself bankrupt in December 2011 and today I have received my official court papers confirming my discharge date as 2nd July 2012.
Is that it?
Do I have any ongoing obligations to the OR?
I have been looking for a job for a while now, if I do find employment do I have to tell anyone?
Thanks in advance. |

Well done on the early discharge! :)
It's not that the account itself helps so much as I can set up[ a Direct Debit to pay my contract phone bill on time each month instead of paying it with my GF's debit card. That will be the main help to my credit file for now and then in 12 months or so I'll see if I can get a credit card which I will use to put £10 of fuel in the car every month and pay it off straight away. Every little helps. |

Posted - 23 August 2012 : 18:02:45 Hi homerjay, just wanted to add thit it is 99.99% certin to be the end, In theory you have an ongoing obligation to the OR indefinitly, BUT only in regards to pre or during bankruptcy matters, so if you get a job now that is fine no need to tell anyone, but if you find out that long lost 7th cousin died last year and left you a stack of money then you would need to tell them, now of course that isnot very likely, the most common thing that people are coming accross at the moment is to do with PPI claims which remain part of the bankruptcy and if that came up the you would need to help the OR out if they asked |

Posted - 23 August 2012 : 17:22:21 It's the same as any other bank account. As,long as you stay in the black it will ho build up your credit rating. The same applies to mobile phone contracts as well. |

Posted - 23 August 2012 : 15:04:17 Thank you for your prompt replies. I have no IPA, as a full time parent I have not had the income required to pay anything into my BR arrangement.
So that would appear to be the end of it. I might treat myself to a small glass of something cold this evening to celebrate drawing a line under this chapter of my life.
I would like to thank everyone on this forum who has replied to my posts and offered advice. You have been a great help and source of comfort at a time when every question on the court paperwork looked like it was written in Russian. I now intend to get myself a Co-op cashminder account and start very slowly rebuilding my credit file from scratch. Thank you all. |

As Niobe has said, if you have no IPA, then you don't need to inform them of any changes to your income and expenditure.

Posted - 23 August 2012 : 14:39:12 Well done on early discharge. I think that if you have no IPA in place then that is it.
What I would do.is check the register and print off a copy of your discharge in case you need it in future.
One of the experts will confirm. |
