My partner works full time and helps me pay my debts each month but now with the baby its getting tight. I get child tax credit and child benefit each month upto £250. If i went bankrupt would i not get my benefits anymore? and what would happen exactly?

Do you have an income from a job?
It sounds like you may qualify for the debt relief order, so you wouldn't need bankruptcy.
I advise you make an appointment with a money advisor at your local CAB to apply for the DRO.
