Posted - 16 November 2012 : 13:38:53 ive been lurking and reading for a while now , so heres my question i went bankrupt in may , its not what i wanted but no other way out . it took 3 months for a firm to get in touch and tell me thye are my OR, i share the mortgage with my partner , we have 3 children and foster ,the house has about £50k equity after taking out the mortgage . a couple of weeks ago we both got letters from the land registry telling us they had put a charge on the house which we expected but still made me really sad it had come to this . the OR has nevr been in touch except the letter telling us thye had put a charge on the house , how do i find out what price they put on our house ? do they wait until the 2-1/2 years are up and have it valued then ? my partner took over paying the mortgage and has been paying more in to it than required to try to get it paid off , is this wise ? still feel really peed off about all this and still not sleeping |

Posted - 16 November 2012 : 16:38:02 If you want to keep your home and can afford to stay there then just pay the normal monthly payments. I would imagine they will be in touch very soon to claim your share. But they have up to May 2015 to deal with it.

Posted - 16 November 2012 : 14:44:26 thanks for getting back to me , yes ive had my telephone call but to be honest i have been so upset/mad /annoyed with all this i have either missed bits or just not heard /been told, i understand my half of the equity has to be paid but when do they decide how much the equity is ? what i mean is , the mortgage will be lower in 2 years so the equity will be higher , do we just pay enough to keep the mortgage company happy till its sorted ? |

Posted - 16 November 2012 : 13:49:54 Hi and welcome to the forum.
Do you jointly own the home? I presume you do, in which case, your share of the equity will need to be paid to the official receiver. Have you had your telephone/face to face meeting with the examiner, as this should have all been discussed with you much sooner.
