Posted - 19 December 2013 : 19:19:53 The trustee of my bankruptcy is demanding my half of the rent 3 years after my bankruptcy. How long would i need to do this for, there really is nothing left after paying insurance and maintenance. I also just found out i need to replace the boiler and have some roof repairs done which will cost a lot and there's no equity. The trustee initially agreed on a full and final payment of £400 to release the charge on the property, since then me and spouse divorced. So as we tried to settle our finances between us, the trustee then ask for £700 for my share of the negative equity. The £700 was paid to the trustee and they never released the charge, when asked to do so, they said they checking thing out. Then then refunded the £700 and since asked me for my share of the rent income after mortgage. Is this normal, its causing me a lot of stress and tension. |

Posted - 20 December 2013 : 06:28:08 Hi Nick,
If this is a rental property and not your family home, then yes, this is normal. They can carry on taking the rent, meaning that you can't afford the property.
Have you spoken to the Official Receiver about everything that has happened and asked them, if they would at some point consider you buying back the beneficial interest?
