Posted - 18 August 2014 : 14:55:02 Hello, I don' t live in the UK at the moment but I have debts since the time I have been living there. I moved to Dubai with my husband and my 2yrs old daughter. Unfortunatelly my husband could' t find a job here so I am the only one working. We experience great financial difficulties and I am struggling to pay off my uk credit card and the housing benefits overpayment . The amount of my debts is around £9000. Am I eligible to declare bankruptcy?

If it was me i would also want to check out what laws Dubai has in this regard as they are not exactly known for their leniency in certain areas of law.

Posted - 18 August 2014 : 19:24:58 Hi,
If you've been abroad less than 3 years, then you can still declare BR here.
However, have you taken advice? Please, I suggest you speak to an expert to chat through all your options.

How long have you been living in Dubai?
The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity. – Ulysses S. Grant
