Posted - 17 April 2015 : 16:43:05 I was discharged in 2014 but in Sept of same year, HMRC advised me of a Working Tax Credit claim from 10 years ago which I believed had been repaid via my ex-wife joint claim. They have told me that as I did not declare the debt at court I still have to repay the £1200 balance, despite my ex-wife effectively owing half of it. Is this correct? They have not wrote to me in 8 years of the debt occurring.

Is this the first you've heard of it and had a demand?
Not sure about this one - hopefully Viki or one of the other experts can come on and advise.
The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity. – Ulysses S. Grant
