Posted - 01 June 2015 : 16:31:29 please can you tell me if someone can be made bankrupt in their absence?
If they owned a house in UK but stopped paying mortgage and left the country. The house had around 20k negative equity in it and has since been repossessed and sold on.
Just wondering if the person who walked away can be made bankrupt in their absence. Thanks |

Posted - 01 June 2015 : 17:48:57 Hi I'm in the UK. It's not for me. It's something a friend has done and I'm wondering if they'll find themselves declared bankrupt without knowing since they're not in the country.

Posted - 01 June 2015 : 16:54:36 Hi and welcome
Whereabouts are you? Have you thought of declaring bankruptcy yourself?
Hopefully one of our experts will be along to give more information as I'm not sure about this one.
