HMRC will make you bankrupt if you don't pay them within the 21 days after they serve you.
At least it wouldn't cost you if they did. I don't think people pay if a creditor makes them bankrupt? |

If you're insolvent then bankruptcy may be an option for you and yes it can cover tax debts, but we need a bit more info re your situation.
