Posted - 04 September 2008 : 12:00:24 Hi All advice needed,
Right, Its nice and quiet here, kids r back at school and im just chilling out, but i just wish i knew what state of play was with the car. I have copied the tax disc, mot cert, and current ins cert for the OR as i send down all letters to them usually once a week but also write things as i remember them. I have written and explained in the letter that i have written that i forgot to mention the Cherished plate as i did not consider it an asset, totally forgot as it was for my name and told them i am sorry for that. I have photocopied the retention cert for them and now its a case of wait and see. AGAIN!!!! That is all i seem to be doing at the moment is waiting and waiting and not knowing where we stand. :( Have i done right with informing the OR about the plate, it cost originally about 200-250 about 4 or 5 years ago and is for my name J19 NYE. Any help or advise greatly received. PLEASE!!!!!!!
Keep Smiling Jo :)

Posted - 05 September 2008 : 15:00:48 Thanks Julian, I will get mum to put the plate on now that the OR knows about it as mum has bought the plate and wants to use it, that saves it sitting on retention, then when we are discharged mum can sign the car over to me if she still wants me to have it, but at least my plate will be in use again, albeit on my mums car.

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 18:46:53 Hi Jo,
You can sell the car and keep the plate. As your mum is buying it, there is no reason why it can't stay on your car (as a gift).

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 18:32:16 Well in another post i can now say that the cherished plate will stay with us, the 3rd party being my mum has agreed to pay the £50 offered to the OR and then it can get transfered onto a vehicle. Julian, now that my mum is buying the plate, can she pay the £25 now and transfer legitamitly onto her car, and when she give me the car next year after discharge the car and plate will be mine again and if i sell the car i can apply to keep the number plate again but that time in my name or will the plate stay on the car. Thanks
Keep Smiling Jo :)

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 12:28:38 Hi Julian
Thanks for the reply. Im glad you have said that we have done the right thing. We have decided that if the OR asks for any more than 50-100 then they can keep it as i can another through the site it came from and buy another once discharged for the same price 250. Thanks again though. I will however keep you informed, we still have not heard anything about the car or the I&E as of yet, so still in the dark. Never mind though. Must myself keep smiling.
Keep Smiling Jo :)

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 12:25:06 Hi Jo,
You have done the right thing. The worst case scenario is the OR may ask for a couple hundred quid for you to retain ownership.
