Hi there

depending upon the full situation you can go bankrupt in the UK for UK debts.

This can be done by either returning to the UK and presenting your oetition in person at the High Court in London, alternatively you can hire a company to represent you in the UK provided that you sign a Lasting Power of Attorney allowing them to act on your behalf.

WARNING :

you need to be aware that bankruptcy will include ALL of your assets wherever they are and should you have such things as a house / car / savings in Portugal then these would be at risk and maybe lost.

I would recomend you speak to an expert to discuss the whole situation confidentially.

You may be surprised but there are often more options than you would first think
