Hi All,

Just looking to have my mind put at rest i suppose.

We are now in new property, however we are lacking in some furniture - mainly a sofa and a bed (one was ruined, the other the matress has gone, bed is broken etc). We also need a couple of things like wardrobes (built in at our own house). How will the OR look at this, as we are waiting til we have these til we go BR? Im not getting credit for them, they are coming out of the money we are saving on mortgage and secured loan now we are in rented. A bed, sofa and wardrobes for two people are gonna come in under £1000 - is that reasonable?

God, getting nearer the time and panicking!

Also, with a company car, what do we disclose? Just I get petrol paid for some journeys I make, but not all?

Hi Darren,

You should be ok. As I've said earlier, most of these are deemed essential items.

Hi Darren,

Its a case of "Sods Law" when everything breaks at the same time. Thats where having the credit on tap used to get us again as it was easy to just get HP, or put on a CC or onto the OD.
If you shop around you should be able to get some good bargains and get a good nights sleep.
You will be ok, honest, look at me 6 weeks in and im well away. Dont get me wrong it still gets to me sometimes but hey thats life, i knew what i was doing when i signed all those agreements and now i have to get on with my new debt free life.
In a funny way as i have not used credit since Nov/Dec 2006 i have got used to living without it, but up until we went BR we were still paying so much to our creditors that we had nothing left to put to one side to save towards anything breaking.
You will get there and over time you will really think to yourself what on earth was i worrying about, i have my life and my family and thats the most important things that you need. The rest is just not in the same league. :-)
Take very good care, Mate, you know where i am if you need me.

Hi, thanks needafriend. Starting having sleepless nights again worrying about stuff.

I have a bed which is in tatters, its ruining my back, but im scared to buy a new one incase it gets me into trouble with the OR. I want to buy a few bits and pieces to set me up for the new three years (not really going to have much during that time as I will get an IPA, I know this!). Nothing stupidly expensive or anything, but as we bought all of our stuff at the same time (when we got our home), its all breaking at the same time....TV is flickering and colour going, bed is totally broke, matress is bust, sofa is ruined...ahhhhhhh! the stress of it all!!!

Hi Darren,

As you're looking at essential items, you should be ok. However, try to keep the expenditure to an absolute minimum.

You just need to disclose a company car as the use of a vehicle that you do not own.
