Hello,

I was just wondering, I got a statement through from my Barclays Children's Saving Account - i have £1.16 in there...would I still be getting statements if this was included in my bankruptcy - I hadn't written it down, as i had completely forgotten about it.

I have had this Account for about 20 years, but never really used it. Can I use it as a saving account do you think? I am due to be discharged in November 08.

Barclays was one of my creditors, i had a current account, no money in it and they froze it anyway.

What do people think? Or what should i do?
Thanks

Hi Suzanne and Jo,

It is my savings account....I am 26....my mum must have opened it when i was little and I had forgotten about it...So it is still a Children's Savings Account - but just my Saving Account.

As they are still sending me letters, does this mean it is not included? Should I email my OR and ask them? Or should i phone the bank and ask them? Considering Barclays was one of my creditors, although i didnt owe them anything they still closed my current account - but obviously not this Children's Saving Account.

Thanks

Hi Suzanne

you say they dont usually take the monies unless its over £10 my Natwest savings account has £2.80 in it and my OR said she will be taking that money as its an asset. Is this right.

If it is your childrens savings account then it is not yours and so would not be frozen or taken by the OR. Besides which they usually would not claim an account balance unless it was over £10.
