Hi all,
Just out of curiosity, when people say, for example, that they have their OR interview, does the interview actually take place with the OR, or with one of the OR's examiners? I have just learnt that our 'OR interview' tomorrow, won't be with an OR, but with an examiner. is this always the case or do some people deal directly with the OR him or herself?
As I say, just curious really, because I always thought we'd deal with the OR.

Most of the work prior to interview is conducted by the examiner, and the examiner conducts the interview. The examiner then passes the case over to a case officer who deals with sending letters and forms out. Any IPA has to be signed by the OR himself for it to be legally binding, but the OR will not be involved with any of the case work other than that.

It is a bit confusing isn't it? My interview i think was by the examiner and the call i got back re me having to pay my compensation money to them was the OR. Now if I contact the office, like i did yesterday i speak to the admin person, think he's a bit more than just admin though, just not sure of his actual title. Hope i've got that all right???? |

In my experience, a male examiner called to arrange the telephone interview. He conducted the interview, but the day-to-day work is now carried out by a female.
The OR himself signed my nil-tax IPA form, but (thank God), I still haven't been put on the nil-tax code two months down the line - hence, I received my £60 tax rebate today :D |

Hi again Jo :-),
I think lots of people DO think they've spoken to the OR. I think if I hadn't specifically asked the man I spoke to today, 'Are you our OR?', he wouldn't have clarified he's the Examiner and I'd also have thought my interview (WHICH IS TOMORROW!!!!! AAAAARGH!) was with the OR himself!

Ahh, thanks Suzanne! So all the time people who think they've had a call from the OR, it wasn't really THE OR, but one of the examiners?
That will explain why, when I asked at court would my hubby and I have the same OR, they said yes, there's only one OR that covers the whole area!! We thought this poor man would be rather busy doing all the interviews, phone calls, and dealing with all the personal AND business BR's in my VERY LARGE city!!! (haha!)

Hi Jo,
I think it's the other way round. There is only one OR in our (very big!) area, and the Examiners are seemingly the staff who just that, examin each case and report to the OR. I was just surprised, because I often hear people say, 'My OR called me', or 'My OR was nice during the interview', so persumed we'd deal with the OR directly. Was just wondering what other people's experiences are.

The OR himself these days is involved in regional administration matters and never gets involved with the actual clients.
All interviews are conducted by examiners and they are overseen by Assistant Official Receivers, who in turn report up to the OR.

Hi,
I had a women who did my interview over the phone, and she was my OR as far as i was concerned and then 4 months down the line it changed and a man was now my OR!!!
Not sure if they swop like this all the time! But whenever I email my OR then i email both of them, just to make sure!

Thats right the Examiner does the call and works out IPA the OR is the office staff that type the letters and follow ups and also the person to whom you would speak to if you had any questions about your BR.
