Posted - 01 October 2008 : 18:35:39 Hi everyone
I had my interview over the phone this afternoon and almost everything was okay. She asked me what I had used my consolidation loans for and my mind went completely blank but did get a fair bit down but not everything and she seemed okay with that. She didn't include my child maintenance or child benefit in my incomings. but that's fine as she didn't include all the kids activities, broadband and life insurnce, that will come out of the CB and Maintenance. Other than that everything else was fine with my I&E except on paper it looks like i'm about £50 down but again that will come out of my CB. So they're not looking for me to pay anymore.
On the downside though, I thought that my money left over from my compensation was safe and so did she but she went and checked and called me back to say it wasn't. I burst into tears as i really needed to use that money for solicitors fees. She got her boss to call me back and he explained it much clearer to me. Basically if the claim was still going through and i hadn't recieved any money yet it would be safe. But as I had recieved the money and was cash in the bank it's classed as an asset and the OR will take it.
I've accepted it now, still gutted and I am really lucky that my partner is paying my fees for me for my solicitor and court, just thought that he wouldn't ave to pay quite so much out.
Oh, my life insurance i am cancelling. What they do is as mine doesn't have any value unless I die they will let me have it but I pay the OR a fee of £50 and if I do die within my BR time then they will take the money, not that i'm planning on dying anytime soon i might add!! Anyway, what I can do is take out another policy and the OR has no interest in this, so that kind of solves the problem, just another thing to sort out though!! |

Posted - 02 October 2008 : 09:23:41 Nat,
Just be a little careful with your life insurance as some do not pay out if you were to die within the first 12 months (sorry to be morbid). If that is the case you are much better off keeping your existing policy and paying the £50 to the OR.
Good luck. |

Posted - 01 October 2008 : 20:32:56 Hi all
I really do feel fine about it all. Maybe it's because I have more pressing issues at the mo and my BR really has sunk into the background. I've been living without credit for about 5 months now and everything has been fine so maybe that's helped a bit.
Jenny - really don't worry I was really struggling to remember and I thought i was going to get into loads of trouble but she was really good and accepted that i just couldn't remember. Just be honest and tell them as it is. You really will be alright.
Getting there - I'm under the Nottingham office, don't kow if it's the norm but my OR was certain that maintenance wasn't included. However, I did ask her if I should inform her if my maintenance should go up (seriously doubt that's going to happen but you never know) and shesaid to give them a call but shouldn't have any effect.
Andy - Good luck on Friday. You'll be fine as well i'm sure. Court really isn't anything to worry about and you'll probably be out in less than an hour. Let us know how you get on. |

Posted - 01 October 2008 : 19:52:58 Glad everything went ok Nat. Which OR office are you with? Is child maintenance a usual thing that they dont take into account? |

Posted - 01 October 2008 : 19:47:02 Hi digman From what I uderstand you only pay if you keep the one you had when you go BR. I don't have a mortgage so my insurance wasn't tied to anything. |

Posted - 01 October 2008 : 19:44:48 Hi Nat , Can i just ask ... do you only pay the £50 if you wanted to keep on with that policy you mentioned ? or do you pay the £50 to the OR if you take a new policy as well ? We have the same sort of policy , but its a condition of the motgage that we have life insurance thru the term of the mortgage . Were you in a similar position ?? |
