Hi All,
My first day and first post on the forum. Hello . Up until a few months ago life was OK - business wasn't great but we worked hard and plodded on to make a living.

However - the sh!t is about to hit the fan and I'm very unclear on what to do - let me expain.

My wife and I run a small Ltd company.

Our 2 yr fixed mortgage is about to go from £1220 to £1700 - so tried to remortgage but self employed - and it isn't happening - therefore we are now up for sale - owe £197K up for £200K but lets face it we are not going to sell anytime soon in this environment.

I have £23.5K personal debt (£20K split over 5 cards) a £3.5K unsecurred loan - we have an investor in the business albeit for only £15K and we are £15K into our £20K overdraft with HSBC

We have drawn approx £3500 per monthfrom tghe business to cover our outgoings of £3498.

The way things stand and with sales due in even if we exhaust our overdraft we will only survive for another 2 months.

Do we go IVA (not even sure what one of these is???)or do we go Bankrupt - again I'm not sure what this is in full or what the implications are???

My wife has now got a new job but it only brings in around £1000 per month (but it eases the cashflow a little) - from the business we are getting also around £1000 per month in commission.

Its not difficult to see that with almost no overdraft left, no savings, no increae in turnover likely and £2000 coming in vs £3500 going out that we are dead in the water very soon.

Can anyone offer any advise as to which way to turn - run away and hide is my gut reaction but I know that at some point a knock will come on my new door and I don't want my 2 young children or my wife or myself to live in fear of every knock, call or piece of post for the next God knows how long.

PLEASE HELP

Hi Tim

I am sooooooooo glad that things are starting to look up for you.

This is a great site and i know that im one of many that will say that without these people and there help, god knows where i would be today. Dead probably as i wanted to take my own life a couple of months ago.

This place has been my godsend, my life after finding this has made each day special and worth while and they gave me the courage and udnerstanding of what to expect and how to go about Bankruptcy.

I was scared so scared that i did not want that route but now over 2 months on since we went BR i am a new person.

I still have days dont get me wrong where i feel low, but i have my whole life and thats a Debt free life ahead of me, im 37 and before this place helped me i felt 77.

Good luck with it all we are all here for you when ever you need that shoulder or just needafriend.

LOL

Hi All,

Just a quick post to say thanks for the help, advice and understanding from the team.

This time last week I was seriously confused, concerned and paranoid - I'd had a visit to the doctors and was on anti depresants.

All I could envisage was losing everything and facing a future with no hope and constant hiding from balifs.

Having spoken to the team I now know this is not the case - having read the many points on the site to I now understand things a lot more clearly and have been able to make much more retional and considered choices.

The outcome will still be to file for BR at some point soon - BUT - I know understand that its not the end - its the begining.

Cheers
Tim
PS - I think the tablets are halping to

Thanks for the feedback - I've made the call and I'm awaiting the call back.

I'm guessing that in todays climate I'm not the only one in the queue - I bet its bigger than an X Factor audition queue

Hi Mr.E.Guest and welcome to the forum.

It is unfortunate that your is a story I'm hearing more and more frequently these days.

The goods news is that you have identified there is a problem ahead of time. With time comes options and I believe your case will be a mix of solutions rather than a single "silver bullett".

Please feel free to speak to one of my colleagues on the helpline (or make an enquiry via the wizard) who will be able to discuss all your options.
