Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone can let me know just how much power the examiner has. If he decides to recommend no further investigations for example, do they just go with that? Similarly, if he recommended a BRU/BRO would they go with that too?
Thanks! Getting my head round things slowly but surely and feeling less wobbly by the hour.

Hi BC,
Even if you get a BRU/BRO, that will hold you under the restrictions of BR for up to 15 years, but will NOT stop your automatic discharge at 12 months. The OR can apply to the court to get your discharge suspended if you don't cooperate, but I doubt that applies in your case. Don't worry!

Hi i think it is down to him to impose the restrictions within reason.
But i would not worry about it honestly, we did the same, consolidation loans, maxed credit cards and overdrafts, out last credit card used in 2006, last loan taken 2005, remortgaged 2006 used money to pay for the attic conversion and also paid of old debts which i told my OR about as they clearly show the paid of dates on the credit report, our last bit of credit was applied in feb 08 to a catalogue for about £800 for kids xmas toys and clothes.
I would not worry though as we got told we may get one and we dont know how she worked that out.
Oh well take care maybe someone else can shed a bit more light on it for you.

Hi Jo and thanks.
I actually felt that our examiner really knew his stuff (we both really liked him too and thought he was a really nice and decent bloke). That's why I was so surprised when he said they could impose restrictions which would mean we would remain BR and not be discharged. Because he seemed to know what he was talking about I wonder if he was talking about something else other than a BRU/BRO.
He did say he 'hasn't made his mind up' yet. I just wondered how much weight his decision carries when he does make his mind up.

I cant hekp with that but i had a thought about my examiner at the time of interview.
I did mention this to John as she seemed to know very little and really did worry me.
I asked if our debt would incurr a BRU and she said no we would go straight to a BRO. As you know you cant go straight for a BRO without going down the BRU route first.
She really upset me and i did not know where we stood, i have since found out there has been an influx of new examiners learning the job and i think my one was a new one who was still learning the ropes.
Anyhow i just wanted to say about my one and that hopefully it will all be a false alarm and just a newbie following a printed sheet on how to conduct an interview regardless of the circumstances.
