Posted - 08 October 2008 : 14:27:42 I have a petition against me for £4400 of Council tax. The hearing date is 24/10/08. I heard about this uring application for loan. I have copy of the lehal paper, my flat which I bought from the council 4 years ago in now at stake. At the moment, i don''t stay in the flat, infact i let it back to the Council who pay rent directly to my account, then I pay it to my Mortgage lender. I can''t raise this money now. I also lost my Dad two weeks ago abroad. This mean I have to travl before this date for the Funeral. The money for the ticket I expect to receive that this weekend from my elder Sister from Nigeria to pay for my trip. What are the option I have to avoid this Bankruptcy?. I can possibly pay this debt in January ending as I am expecting £5000 from my Dad will which would be executed in January. Please, advice me on what to do

Posted - 08 October 2008 : 15:58:18 Council Tax is a difficult one i am afraid.
I had mine included in my bankruptcy - or so i thought...and then 7 months after i went bankrupt, i was told that I still had to pay it -so had to shell out £700 otherwise they were taking me to court.
Just wanted you to know, so that you make sure you are clear with what is happening every step of the way...
