Posted - 08 October 2008 : 16:56:27 I applied for a sole-trader business account at my bank today and it was rejected as there appears to be 'bankruptcy information registered in my name'. I have never failed to pay on any credit agreements and have certainly never been made bankrupt. A former housemate who I lived with for a year and a half had terrible credit problems though, which culminated in him being declared bankrupt shortly before he left the house. I was wondering if his bankruptcy could be affecting my credit rating? I'm unsure if him being at the same address could do this. I have applied for my statutory credit report from Equifax today.
Many thanks!

Posted - 08 October 2008 : 17:14:08 Hi d-e and welcome
I was under the impression that no it should not have affected you.
Also try the other 2 credit ref companies Experian and Callcredit and see if that shows anything.
You can dissasociate yourself with him if thats the case, i think you write to them, dont know if there is a fee but if they have got you linked then it would be worth it.
Other than that i dont know what else to add, maybe one of the other members will have more of an idea.
Take care and keep posting
