Posted - 10 October 2008 : 20:53:42 I hope someone can help. I have been saving up for ages to apply for bankruptcy and I have just checked the register to find that I have already been made bankrupt a couple of months ago.
I don't know who has made me bankrupt (I have moved house a couple of times so I guess they sent letters but I didn't get them) and what I should do next.
It says my automatic discharge date will be 1 year from the date the order was made.
I am really scared now. Am I in trouble? Who do I contact? Does this mean that all debts prior to this have automatically been written off?
Please help. I am so worried. |

Posted - 10 October 2008 : 22:28:28 Hi Julie
I would def contact the OR on Monday and see what they can advise you of as obviously they dont know your circumstances.
Let us know how it all goes though, and keep posting. Like you have said its a relief really as now your free but you do need to speak to the OR dealing with it as you will need to fill in an I&E form.
Take care

Posted - 10 October 2008 : 22:09:31 Hi Julie
Im sorry to hear about your circumstances, men eh.
The OR will be able to help you with other debts as they usually put a notice in the London Gazette about your BR and ask then for those that you owed money to too come forward. I would def give them a call next week and see what state of play is. When did you go BR, what date did they do it. I can add a link on here for you to search through the old gazette and see if anything on there with your name gives any clues. Hope that helps

Posted - 10 October 2008 : 21:12:10 Hi there Julie71 and welcome
Dont worry, on the register does it say the OR's office that are dealing with it.
Maybe you could have a look and contact them.
I hope you get it sorted out. :-)
