Although your files will not show this after the 6 years are up and like you have said 3 months after discharge it is removed from the register it will stay with you forever.

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 10:13:09 I think I am right in saying that it will come off of the credit file after 6 years, and off of the Insolvency Register 3 months after discharge, but if they wanted to delve deeper then they would be able to find it out - i.e. doing a search on the London Gazette Bankruptcy Announcements...
If you were going for anything of importance, mortgage etc then they would ask you "have you ever been bankrupt before?" and you would still have to say Yes even if it was 40 years ago...

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 09:59:15 does that mean after 6 years you are no longer seen as BR? can they see that you were or not? lou x |

As far as i am aware your file which i beleive is the credit files will update themselves.
You can of course contact the credit report people and enclose a copy of your discharge and get it updated that way but normally they update after the 6 year period.
You dont have to contact them unless you feel after that time that you wish to do so.
Hope that helps.
