Posted - 14 October 2008 : 13:29:14 Hi All,
Went BR last week. Managed to get a co-op account but the guy said it would be middle of next week till i get account details sort code acc number etc. I pay all my utilities by D/D on the first of month ( due 1st Nov ). Im worried that i wont have enough time to sort out new D/D instructions with co-op. I have no other way to pay bills as no cheque book or debit card cause old bank frozen. HELP! I dont want to start off my new life getting into debt with rent and utilities etc. Any advice please.
Thanking you in advance Tracy X X |

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 16:57:15 I agree! I think it was Vodafone who told me it would take a month, although this might have changed now anyway.

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 16:11:55 I should have said it wasn't utility companies that told me 3-4 weeks so maybe some companies are quicker than others!

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 15:55:43 Hi Tracy
My companies say allow at least 14 days to get a DD set up.
I would say if you can pay over a counter till you have it sorted or just explain to the companies and ask if you can pay 2 on the next months date and just keep the payment you would have made this month in there ready.
Best of luck

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 15:49:18 Thanks everyone,
Does anyone know how long it takes to transfer D/D from one bank to another. I dont actually have bill statements that i can pay at the post office, all my gas elect water etc are just paid d/d and every 6 months or so i get a statement of how much i have used and how much i have paid. I dont really know the answer but i just really dont want to get behind with these as i have never missed payments on rent or utilities (only credit cards etc).
Thanks Tracy XX |

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 15:24:32 i pay all my bills over the counter at the post office that way i know where i am at, try it till you get sorted.quote: Originally posted by Skippy13
The Co-op gave me the sort code and account number over the phone as there was a delay in sending them out to me.
It might be best to pay them over the counter this month as some companies take 3-4 weeks to set up a direct debit.

Posted - 14 October 2008 : 14:14:49 Hi Tracey,
Can you not just pay the bills over the counter at the post office....this is what i do...until i get an account...
As long as you pay it, they dont really mind how you pay it! |
