Posted - 16 October 2008 : 10:10:14 Hello,
I am to be automatically discharged in 2 weeks, and I was just wondering....has anyone actually written to their court and got a Certificate of Discharge?
Do you just write the normal court address? And how do you pay the £60 - can you do it by cheque (will get a friend to do it) or can you just ring up and pay for it with a card?
I want to get the Certificate...just for piece of mind...but i will print it off the Insolvency Register as well...
Thanks

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 12:40:34 To be honest it doesn't feel that different to when I was BR 369! The time has flown past, and to be honest it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.
Good luck with joining the police - it's something I've always wanted to do, but I think I've left it a bit late now as I'll be 36 3 years after discharge.
I'm off to the West Country a week on Saturday - we're going to Cornwall for a week.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 11:06:06 Thanks Jo....
honestly it will really fly by...
i have to wait another 3 years before i can even apply for the police, 3 years after my discharge date - it is gutting, but something I have to deal with!
i certainly wont leave this site, it has been a godsend over the past few months - if only i had found it earlier!!!
do i remember rightly that you are in the westcountry....i am from Devon! |

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 10:42:14 Hi 369
That is so kind of you to add in that bit, i have found the last 11 weeks have flown by :-)
Helping on this site has taken my mind of off my own BR so much so i forget all about it to be honest.
I hope that you get your dream job, we need more police officers out there and i really think that just because you had gone BR that you should not be penialised for it.
To me thats unfair, but thats their rules and we have to live and abide by them.
I hope also that life treats you well and that you dont forget about us.
LOL

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 10:38:36 Thanks Jo and Skippy....yeah i just wanted to see if anyone had actually done it.
£60 is a complete rip off....its a piece of paper/card for gods sake! However, I want to join the police in the future and I know that they will want to see the Certificate, so thought i might as well get it now.
So, i'll just ring the court then, ask them what the procedure is, but I will get everything ready in the mean time - the cheque, the letter etc
God this year has gone so quickly...you will find this as well Jo... how does it feel to be discharged skippy?
Thanks |

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 10:16:37 When I asked about this I was told that I needed to send a cheque for £60 (absolute rip off!) to the court where you were made BR.
Don't go to the court with cash - you will be sent away again and they will post the certificate to you, so a wasted journey!

Posted - 16 October 2008 : 10:12:48 Hi 369
Firstly thats great news!
Secondly i dont know of anyone who has bought a cert of discharge but i would say that you would call your local court and ask them what there procedure is for buying one.
I expect they would prefer cash and that there may even be a form that you would have to fill in so that you can apply for it, the court where you did your BR would be where you have to apply and as you know you can only apply 2 weeks before.
Best of luck:-)
