Posted - 17 October 2008 : 17:55:09 Hi all, had a trying day today, as not heard anything from NatWest thought it would be better to go to one of the recommended banks to sort our bank act out. couldn't go to co-op as owed them money, tried abbey-they could only open a savings act, tried barclays and they said everything was fine, and then came up declined on the computer. that wasted a couple of hours. within minutes had an act no from onebanking, completed in 2 seconds online only down side is u cant have d/d's on so will have to sort out standing order payments and will get a pre paid mastercard all for 12.50 per month. as joint act cant have cheques in husbands name paid in. thought everyone should know really as this has definately been a hard part of being BR. can anyone else offer any further advice? thanks S x |

Posted - 17 January 2009 : 00:11:37 i think Lloyds are too, I went into open a bank account - basic with them the other day, and they declined after I told them my history etc, however the lady in the bank said not to worry if I cant get an account post bankruptcy I should bring my bankruptcy certificate in and she will arrange a special savings account with ability to have direct debits on it which I though was nice, ive gone with OneBanking though

Posted - 17 October 2008 : 22:25:17 It sounds as though Lloyds are softening a bit - the terms and conditions on their website say that they won't open an account for an undischarged BR.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 17 October 2008 : 18:01:31 Hey Siobhan
Ive had luck with Lloyds TSB this week. I have been able to open a basic account (and got a debit card too) - This was all done post BR, so im presuming everything was ok.....I did still phone them today to make sure i can start using the account.
Maybe it depends on each branch or what staff you get - mine have been really helpful (so far)
Why not give them a ring and see where you stand

Posted - 17 October 2008 : 18:00:35 Think banking do DD's and SO's and they charge the same as One Banking, they also give you a Mastercard i think it is.
They dont say no either as no credit check!
