Posted - 20 October 2008 : 15:43:07 Hi i went BR on 8th oct 2008. I owed £35k. All on credit cards and 1 unsecured loan. £20K was due to ivf treatment. I have just sent off all recipes for the IVF to the OR. That leaves the outstanding £15k which was spent on living as after paying the minimum on the credit cards and the loan we had nothing to live on.
I am really worried, what is the worse they can do to me for spending this amount, i have got in a real mess, paying cards off but then having to put money back on them to live, a vicious circle. I have been totally honest with the OR and said i should of gone BR last year instead of trying to manage the debt which got us know where.
Also on the BR forms i put my normal wages down as i always get the same every month, apart from sometime i get a bonus perhaps twice a year but its not guaranteed. I think i am getting one this month, what should i do. If i Tell the OR now she will think i was lying about my wages. Shall i tell her if i get one it may £300 after tax. I totally forgot to tell her as like i said nothing is guaranteed i never know if im getting one until its in my wages.
Also the judge said the my apply restriction to my case, does this mean a BRO. when will i know if this will apply.
I am cause i am so worried about all of this.
please help |

Posted - 20 October 2008 : 19:16:20 Hi Sahara
You have had a bad time of late. The Judge was probably having a bad day and you caught the raw end, even if a BRU/BRO is issued it really is nothing to worry about just a way of making sure you have learnt your lesson with regards to money.
I would tell the OR once you know what your onus might be, but also remember that if redundency is on the cards you must also tell them as soon as it happens or as soon as you know for definate.
Best of luck
Take Care

Posted - 20 October 2008 : 18:32:16 Hi Sahara, Thats exactly what i feel with regards to the BRO/BRU. We are going to get one the OR informed us, but the way i see it is i have no debt and i certainly dont want credit again, so it wont really affect me.
Good luck and keep posting Tracy XX |

Posted - 20 October 2008 : 18:28:42 Thanks for the reply. it makes me feel a little better to know that others are in the same debt range. I think the judge was very grumpy, it was a childrens court day and very busy. I will tell the OR about the bonus as soon as i get paid as then i will know if i get it or not, even if i dont i will tell her i may in the future, although the way things are going at the mo, they are making people redundant here. With regards to the BRO i will take what ever they give me as its better than being in debt.
thanks S |

Posted - 20 October 2008 : 17:39:25 Hi Sahara, Your debt for general living expenses seems like everyone else on this site so i imagine nothing to worry about. As i understand it, the worse that can happen is a BRO/BRU which extends the restrictions of a BR for anywhere between 2 to 15 years. As for your wages i would tel your OR of the bonus situation stating that you wont know how much or if at all you will get. They deal with this kind of query all the time so please dont worry.
It well may help you yo phone the free helpline and to discuss all your worries with one of the experts, they all have loads of experience and will know exactly what to say to you. Not sure why the Judge would comment on restrictions though.
Please phone helpline though Take care Tracy XX |
