Today I received a postcard from a company called RMA, they are a third party firm on behalf of MBNA. It said they will be calling at my house between 8am-9pm on Friday!! I called them up asked who they were. They asked if I could make a payment to my account as I am £300 in arrears. I said I can't afford to and I would be going bankrupt shortly. The man said "ok I will note my records but unfortunately I cant guarantee you wont get any phone calls" I said thats ok I will advise once I have gone bankrupt.

Until now I have avoided all calls but it wasn't as bad as I expected the guy was actually very nice when I was expecting to be bullied to pay.

2 weeks Tuesday until we move to rented accomodation and 3 weeks Monday until I declare bankrupt.

I still cannot believe how much debt I have raked up in the past 3 years just to pay bills every month, I should have done this 3 years ago rather than keep borrowing but why do we seem to think something will happen that will clear all debts. I still keep thinking it will happen.

Hi, we haven't heard anything from MBNA yet-it's been mainly halifax that has hassled us! although not heard anything from them since telling them about BR on sat.
Keep chin up everyone, we all got ourselves in a mess and never want to go back there ever again. everyone is entitled to learn from their mistakes. and oh what better futures we are all gonna have!!

I still get phone calls and i went br 6th october i'm very polite and they are ok had one today who you could tell was reading off the screen and you could hear the penny drop and said she was sorry to bother me (these being ones who hounded me the most!!!) so that was bliss!!!.
It was the best thing i ever did and i don't regret doing it.its a fresh start for me and my kids don't sound like a mean mum anymore
I also couldn't believe how much i owed until the man at the court doing my case Mr Jolly!! was his name added it up felt green round the gills but he was wonderful with us and very understanding also finding this site has been a godsend so i wish you the best for your move and your future xx

yes, MBNA are top of the bully list
i got another letter today (thats 4 in a week)- they have just piled on the interest and payments due, ramping up the debt since March when i first said i couldnt pay and tried to organize reduced monthly payments - they were rude and pushy on the phone
Barclays did the same thing to my bank account, which wasnt overdrawn, to pay the bankloan
Everyone just shrugs and says 'thats what they do' - i felt bad enough before for not paying these bills, never been in debt before in my whole life
i take the br forms into court on Friday
yes they will be nice on the phone - this is their iron fist in a velvet glove
im recording it the next time they call me 'for my own training purposes'

Having nothing is a form of freedom

Hi help007

I know i for one wish i had gone BR when we started to experience our difficulties but as we all know that life never runs smoothly.

Just look to the future and try and forget about the past, what is done is done and now you have to try and put that to the back of your mind and look for the positive side of life.

Let us know how you get on. :-)

Take Care

Jo x

Hi

Often it is a difficult step to take but I am sure that other experts will agree that EVERYONE says "I wish I had done this years ago".

It is not as bad as everyone down the pub make out.

Good luck and let us know how you get on
