Posted - 22 October 2008 : 17:26:28 WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE GOING ON MY GIRLFRIEND GO A LETTER CHASING AN OVERDRAFT OF £600 FROM 10 YEARS AGO SHE REMEMBERS NOTHING ABOUT IT BUT THEY SAY IT IS HER DEPT WILL SHE HAVE TO PAY IT SHE WAS TOLD IF SHE DIDNT PAY STRAIGHT AWAY SHE WOULD BE BLACK LISTED IS THIS RIGHT AD IF SHE IS BLACK LISTED HOW LONG WILL THIS STAY ON HER FILE

Firstly there is no such thing as "Black Listed" its just a term that is used but all creditors look at the credit files we hold and see how well we have ran our debts and then they use their own criteria to decide if someone can borrow money or not.
Secondly i would give our helpline a call and see what options their are for your girlfriend and this debt. My OH had a burton account when he was in the army and paid some but then as he moved about a lot they did not get hold of him, this was about 10 years ago, when we first went for our mortgage it was noted on the system, but OH never paid anything towards it and for some reason now its not on the credit file at all, i do remember they had a CCJ next to it, but it has now vanished.
Give us a call and see what they can suggest verbally to you, as you never know what options are there to help.
