Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:18:19 Hi Everyone,
Not sure what's happened but I am JAH reinvented somehow!!
Went BR on 13th October, I have my OR interivew tomorrow morning at 10.00 am (hubby at 9). Am completely dreading it as most people do but today I feel completely overwhelmed by it all and like my life is not my own any more.
I think what has sparked is what happened yesterday. We moved our bank account to Barclays in June on advice from the CCCS as we owed money to Lloyds. On the day that we went BR my husband went into Barclays, told them what had happened and the lady was very helpful and said that the account wouldn't be closed or frozen but that we may have to downgrade to a Cashcard account. I don't have a problem with that. I went to pick up my prescription yesterday from the chemist and my card was declined. I then went to the Bank and, again, they were very nice and told me that the cards had been cancelled and all the direct debits stopped. We have to go back in tomorrow to open a Cashcard account and get all the direct debits transferred over. I am now worrying that mortgage/utility/general DD payments that we have NEVER missed will start to cock up and everything will be out of control.
Coupled with that, it was the anniversary of my mother in law's death yesterday so when I could have done with support from my husband he had his mind elsewhere.
I know that BR was our only option but I really feel completely overwhelmed by it all. I break up today for a few days holiday today which I was really looking forward to before all this. Nothing grand but going camping with loads of people and putting on a big Halloween party on Friday.
I'm sorry to sound really pitiful but sometimes its good to get your feelings written down.

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 22:33:39 Hi Jayne
I am so sorry that you have had a real c**p day or 2. You know that whenever you feel low we are all here for you.
In time the feeling that you get from the initial BR hearing etc will all become a blur and a distant memory and you will be able to look back and think what was i so worried about.
I do know how you feeling though, but Mate try not to worry it will all come good in the end.
LOL

Thank you so much for all your replies - you really are all lovely.
This time tomorrow my OR interview will be over and the bank account is just a bit of admin so you're right.
I suppose we will all have our ups and downs but this is where this forum comes into its own for being able to pick people up when they are down - I for one don't know what I would have done without it.
I won't be able to post until Monday, along with Gettingthere who had her OR interview today - wonder how that went.
Thanks again everyone - I sincerely mean that.

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 11:55:15 Hi Jayne, I went br 6th oct and felt very flat but now ok. I know Its easier said than done but please try not to worry about tomorrow all they do is go through your SOA write it down again!! and really just telling them in your own words how you got here. My OR was really nice in a matter of fact way and also asked if i felt the interview was ok As yes he could judge me but you never know it could happen to him! Maybe once tomorrow is over you will be able to relax. Sometimes its the small things that get us down but you will be ok and it will get sorted.Enjoy your party and have a lovely couple of days

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 11:18:28 I understand how you feel . BR was freedom to me , a chance to step back.I got a bank account with the coop (cashminder) and they have been superb. With regard to the OR meeting - they did everything to make me feel at ease and were not judgemental at all. We are human and it is not easy handling money, I still very much struggle to this day but so long as you have a strong relationship nothing else matters. |

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:55:06 Morning Jayne (my BR twin)
Well i felt eaxctly the same as you all last week, and felt so low and could not explain to anybody how i really felt as noone knows but my hubby. He has been very very supportive, but cannot completely understand how i feel....Thats why i come here and tell all my friends how i feel. We are all here for each other and when someone is down there wll always be someone to pull you back up again.
But....saying all that - I feel sooooo free and completely the opposite this week.
We will all have our ups and downs but remember we are here to support each other
Take care Jayne

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:48:21 I have thanks Jayne. Ours wasn't great, but do you know what, so what? Really, all they can do is give hubby and me a BRU. We're not criminals, have done nothing to be arrested for or anything silly like that. I'm really at the point now where I think we did this cos we had no other choice and now we are completely debt-free and have learnt such a good lesson from it, which we can pass on to our little one. A BRU will not change that and wouldn't really change anything at all. I'm such a worrier by nature, but I'm managing to be positive and philosophical about it all.
I'm sure your interview will be fine. They may not be friendly, but they're just doing their job. Answer the questions as best as you can, then try to put it all to the back of your mind =]
I'll be thinking about you hon.

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:48:02 Hi Jayne,
I was so worried that i would start to miss all the utility bills and my rent when we first went br (9TH Oct ). I got myself into a right old panic cause like you we hadn't missed any payments on the important bills. I opened a cashminder account the same day we went BR and had to wait a week for the sort code and acc number taking me to the 16th Oct. i changed all payment either on internet or phone and within 7 days all of them have shown up on my new account. Please try not to worry, as you have an appointment tomorrow you will get all the sort code and acc numbers and you will be ready to go. They will help you sort it out anyway.
Take care and try and enjoy the week Tracy XX |

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:39:53 Thanks BC - really appreciate you replying.
Absolutely dreading tomorrow so can't see past that at the moment. I want to look back at these posts and be in a completely different frame of mind from where I am today.
Have you recovered from your OR interview - I have read some horrors on here!!!!

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 10:36:34 Hi Jayne,
Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit low today. If you have a look around the forum, you'll see it's quite common for people to have a low period after BR. I think it's just cos up to BR you're so busy getting things sorted that you hardly have time to worry about it and afterwards the magnitude of it all really begins to sink in. It's great you've got plans though for the next few days and I'm sure once you get off on your break and your interview's over and your bank account sorted, you'll start to pick up again and begin to enjoy your new life with no debt! =]
Take care hon and don't apologise for having a whinge.
We're here to listen (or should that be 'read'! hehe)
