Posted - 28 October 2008 : 13:31:53 I have just come back from court to present my br docs. and need one more document (up-to-date dla income) to apply for reduction of £150 from court fees. I have just added up gross income and it is £11,911.19 which is under £12,000 but feel like this may be rejected, (was reminded it was tax payers money- i still pay tax on pension!) I was a bag of nerves and now deflated again. So I will return in a couple of days with updated letter but am i wastimg my time as i could lend the £150. from a friend and just get it over with? feeling quite frazzled and alone

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 16:36:47 Hi Useful
Things will get better i have to say everything seems that bit worse this time of year with the dark nights and things but top tip for the day get outside as much as you can when the weather is good it really does make you feel better. We all get down on our luck at some time and you have to make the most of the good things in life, most of which are free i might add!!

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 16:25:02 thank you nat for your reply - i guess im panicking - i feel like a beggar somehow but will take your advice, i will go back with the new letter and see if im eligble - if im not then my pension is paid in on friday and i will have to pay the full money next week, but have the £345 at least - you are right its not worth borrowing anymore, even just for 3 days, but i thought today was the day i put the forms in, and it wasnt, so came back quite depressed - then i feel guilty as other people have no pension or benefits and are worse off and so it goes, one minute im down and the next im even lower - cant face food and not sleeping well, just want to get it over with- thanks you did help

Posted - 28 October 2008 : 15:42:59 Hi I would still apply for the reduction if you're entitled you are entitled as i see it. You need to be very careful about borrowing oney to pay for fees as i think this would be frowned upon. One of the first questions i got asked at my interview was did i pay my fees myself. I have no idea how closely they look at this but it was obvious from my bank account that i did so no further questions on that. I don't know if anyone else can shed light on this? I have a friend covering my legal fees for a court case i am currently going through at the moment. The OR is fine with this as he is gifting the money to me and is not expecting me to pay it back. No idea if i have helped at all but first thing is try and see if youcan get the reduction, takes out some hassle in the long run for you. Let us know how you get on
