Hi Everyone,

Firstly, thank you so much for your messages of support last week when I had my OR interview and also the day before and my "Feeling really low" message. The support from here is invaluable and really helped me on a bad day.

As you may or may not know, we went away in our caravan last week for half term (had the OK from the OR before this as he said that nothing would happen during half term week and we could "do what we liked with the caravan, apart from sell it of course!!". We were awake quite early and hubby was really worked up about it. He went out in the car to speak to the OR on the pretext of going to get a paper and petrol as our 5 year old daughter was with us. He came back at about 10.20 and by then I was really really worked up. I had my call at around 10.45. The OR was very matter of fact, not judgemental at all but picked up on points where we had differed slightly in our explanation of what money had been spent on. All in all, my interview took 57 minutes from start to finish.

As I "only" had one loan and one credit card I was more able to explain what we had done with the money whereas poor hubby had numerous credit cards and a loan so had a bit of slightly harder time.

The crux of it is that the OR will take the caravan and my husbands 4x4 which is used to tow the caravan but will leave him £2,000 towards a car (after all the advice on here that is what we expected). My car will be valued by their agent and providing they give it a value similar to mine then I can keep it - if not, they will also give me £2,000 towards one (fingers crossed on this but at least they will let me have one, referring to Jo's problems with her OR and saying that she did not need one to take three children to school!). We have a couple of "Life" policies (payment on death) and these will cost £50 each to keep if we want to keep them. Hubbys number plate will be valued and I think will go but OR was unsure until he gets valuation done. He also told hubby that they weren't interested in house as in neg equity but didn't mention this to me.

I think that's about it - I had a laugh with him at the end as he went through the speel about not getting credit over £500...... to whcih I replied that I never wanted to see credit again. He said if he had £1 for every time people said that he would be rich. He also told me not to beat myself up about it as the stigma regarding bankruptcy was not like it used to be - I told him that it was as far I was concerned - this was a really difficult decision to take and I felt a failure. He said I shouldn't as there are youngsters out there, racking up credit to their eyeballs on "nothing" and going bankrupt as an easy option.

He said he would have to look at an IPA but we got back yesterday to an IPA agreement which just stated the amount of my tax and the same for hubby. Haven't really looked at it properly yet as was too tired but will do it tonight.

I still don't feel elated strangely enough although I do feel slightly better than my last post. Sorry if this has been a bit of novel but I know that previous posts of experience with the OR has helped me to prepare a bit better.

Thanks for listening!

Jayne xx

No i dont work so was not me. I did read someone on here also that was waiting to hear about their car but i cant remember who it was.

Was it gettingthere maybe, no we just did not get told at the time of interview if we could keep ours. We had a fight on our hands and i still did not know till i called then about 5 weeks after and actually asked them outright what the state of play was and i was told then that the car was exempt, i also called them about my cherished plate and then made the offer, my mum bought it back so that was sorted.

Like i have said about the life policies, £50 each is a lot, and you have to pay £100 for any joint policies so for us that would have been £200 so we just let them lapse and too others out, just informing the OR that we did not wish to buy them back.

Take care and have a drink for me :-)

Thanks Jo. Maybe I'm getting you mixed up then re the car? I remember reading a post from someone who's OR had said that she didn't need one - despite the fact that she had three children to take to work and a 7 mile trip to work - must be the alcohol fuddling my brain from my break last week!!

Just off to look at your blog again......!!!

Hi Jayne

Thats great news at least thats all over now. We kept our car in the end as it was only £1200 in value and they allowed it as we needed it for hospital appts etc. But i was so glad that we did not have to let it go.

I hope that you find out about the number plate i paid the OR for mine, i offered them some money and they accepted, by a 3rd party of course.

Do let us know when you hear about the other things, we let our life policies laspe and started new ones which funnily enough are cheaper so we saved.

Take care and keep posting
