I am applying for new jobs and have just been declared bankrupt as i was a fitness instructor and in the summer had an accident breaking my hip and pelvis making it unable to work and hence the court suggested bankrutcy.
One of the questions in my telephone interview for a bank was do i have any ccj's or a bad credit history. Before this bankruptcy i did not, but should i tell the employers i am now bankrupt as when i did the advisor on the phone was not sure if/how this would effect my application and suggested i got some advise on this as they were unsure ?

having been declared bankrupt do i now have some kind of points (like driving licence) what should i say when asked about my credit history ??

regards
Hayley

Hi Hayley

If this was a job interview for work with the bank, then yes you should let them know.

Your credit file will be updated in the next few months to reflect the bankruptcy, but if you are asked at any point you should be honest.

You will generally be bankrupt for 12 months with the possibility of an early discharge in 6-9 months. The bankruptcy will stay on your credit file for 6 years.
