Posted - 05 November 2008 : 21:28:27 I hope you can answer my question, I was working as self employed and as the business finished I still owned an employee wages this then went to tribunal and has spiralled from £800 to £8000 that I now owe, can I put this on my bankruptcy as I am responsible for the debt or is it classed as a business debt

I think you'll find the debt will be included in bankruptcy. That said, if the OR were to be able to realise funds from your estate by way of sale of assets or an Income Payment Agreement the ex employee may well be treated as a preferred creditor by which I mean his/her payment may be considered a priority over the rest of the creditors.
