Totaly agree Jo, I only made the decision to put mine in as hubby did it in his name but would still have contiued paying the bills as the kids are allergic to not having every piece of electrial equipment on all at once!!!

Steve

As John has pointed out it prob is best to try and pay the utilities as you need those and it looks better on your part and is not classed as preferential.

I would continue to get those bills down as you will need to have gas and electric once you move.

Take care

I agree Jo as i know they can get you to pay a deposit not sure how much though. I was lucky as when we moved the bills went into my husbands name.

Hi Steve

If the gas and leccy co are happy with the payments your making then continue and just include in your SoA that you will fill in for the BR.

Make sure that any shortfall is written on their also in the secured and unsecured sections so that you dont become liable.

Best of luck, time will fly by now you have a plan in place.

Hi

the downside of including utility bills from your current property when you go BR is that if the same suppliers supply the rental you would need to arrange a change as they are unlikely to want to continue with your account.

If its just repo, all i did was carry on as normal then when i moved just carried it over but as i went BR i put those into the BR.
As far as any debt to you mean the outstanding mortgage? If the house is sold for less then there will be a shortfall which you will be liable for but obviously if you go BR that gets put in also.

we are going BR but not until we have moved, working on March (ish) in the mean time we owe Gas & Leccy around £300...Do I need to increae the DD prior to going BR to repay what we owe?
Needafriend Posted - 06 November 2008 : 20:55:44
Hi Steve

You really need to continue paying your utilities where you can. I know that you dont want to pay your mortgage but i would keep up with the main utilities up to and including BR.

I hope that is the answer you wanted to hear.

Take care

Thanks Jo

Another one that I have been meaning to ask! Do i need to bring utility bills up to date/increase DD ready for repo day or is any debt wiped?

Many thanks

Steve

Hi there,

I would say you should be fine, they usually start to get in touch about court etc after month 3, then it may go to court and you have a chance to make an offer to repay obviously you wont be so then they will have another 8 weeks or so to instigate reposession proceedings, so i would say you would be fine.

Hope that helps
