Posted - 07 November 2008 : 21:39:29 Just wanted to tell you all my experiences with O2 in case any of you are unfortunate enough to have a phone with them...
I went BR on sept 16th and O2 finally disconnected my phone 2 days ago. I phoned them and they confirmed that the had done it because its in their terms and conditions that if I go BR then they have that right. My contract is up this month anyway, and I had arranged to reduce it to £20 instead of £40 on their 'simplicity' tariff. I have never missed a payment in 12 months and most of my bills were £60 or over. I would say I was a good customer. I asked them if they could not take each case on its merits and seeing as I was a good customer just let me continue on the simplicity tariff which is a month-by-month tariff anyway. They said no, point blank.
So fair enough, that was that. But oh no it wasn't.
Today my phone had my other vodaphone sim card in it and suddenly it had no service either, after being ok all last night and this morning. I called vodafone, and they said the problem wasn't with the SIM or them, but my phone had been blacklisted, like a lost/stolen phone. O2 had blocked the handset as well, even though it belonged to me and wasn't even bought from them. I called them and they said it was done in error, and that it would be back on within 24 hours. It came on tonight but has now caused a problem with my vodafone simcard!
I don't think O2 could have been more heavy handed if they tried, and even considering I don't owe them any money at all!
So my advice is stay away from O2 because they really don't deserve the custom...

Posted - 08 November 2008 : 08:21:34 Hi GP
Did they look at your account cause you had reduced the tariff? Did you tell them you were BR, or did they do a standard search when you contacted them.
I am with O2 contract until April, by which time I maybe discharged according to OR. Didnt put mobile on SOA and OR contacts me on my mobile as a primary number.
Thanks x |

Posted - 07 November 2008 : 21:57:39 That's dreadful GP! How annoying! Glad your phone's back up and running now though and hope you can get your sim card sorted soon.
We're with Vodafone and as far as we know, they don't even know we're BR. Maybe it's a case of wait and see though.
Take care,

Posted - 07 November 2008 : 21:54:23 Oh GP
That is a real s**t experience that you have had.
I was with o2 on my contracts and as soon as they knew that i had gone BR they cancelled my contracts with them and billed me for them.
Luckily for me i had written them on the SoA as i knew that i would end up with a £300 bill on both contracts but getting them to stop writing to me all the time about my account and the fact they knew that the OR was dealing with it took the biscuit.
I am still with them but on pay as you go and i knew what was gonna happen with my phone, but for them to block your phone also is not on.
I would complain if i were you. Let us know if you do and what happens.
Take care and try and have a great weekend. :-)
