Posted - 24 November 2008 : 17:01:13 Dear Forum
Has anyone on here used any of the BR Assistance Services which are available, and if so, is it worth doing? What exactly do you get for the money?
I am due to go BR on 05/01/09 and am worried sick. I have just stopped paying into my DMP so am just waiting now for the calls to start all over again from the Creditors.
I still am not sure what exactly to put fown on some sections of the Forms and I am not confident about facing the OR. There are a couple of things which I have done which looking back with what I know now were a bit stupid, and I could get into a bit of trouble for and I am fearing the worst.
I have even considered starting up the DMP again just to try and keep the Creditors off my back until I go BR but I think the money would be better spent on having someone help me through the whole BR process.
I am aware that a couple of the Experts on here offer, or work for companies who offer, Assisted BR and I have always thought they give great advice and I think that's what I need - just someone to help me through the process and maybe afterwards.
If anyone has taken this route, I would be very grateful to hear from you because I am feeling very stressed about it all right now!!!
Thanks in advance... |

Posted - 28 November 2008 : 11:15:47 Hi Guys!
Well I have decided to go ahead and 'enlist' the help of Reviva UK to help me through my BR case.
I have cancelled my DMP for the months of November and December and will put the money towards the Assisted BR Service instead - seems to make a lot more sense!
I feel better about things already. Having spoken to Paul quite a few times now, I feel I am in very good hands - he has always been friendly, helpful and very informative!
Just waiting for the forms now to get the ball fully rolling...
Have a good weekend guys! |

You must do what is right for you. I know that i wish i had someone to guide me and hold my hand so to speak through my BR but you need to be strong.
As you know we can be a virtual hand holder on here but if you feel you need more then you must go for it.
Take care and keep posting

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 22:26:55 Hi Debtrider!
Thanks for your reply!
Yes I have spoken to Paul a few times already and he has been great - very helpful and friendly. I just feel there are a few things I am not sure about and like I could do with the support afterwards if any problems arise.
I think I will talk to Paul again!
Thanks Debtrider and everyone else...

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 22:18:06 Hello dazed and confused.
Don't feel bad about using this site and asking the same questions over again, that's what it's is here for. I did exactly the same as you before I went bankrupt. You will get lots of good advice from this site, but as you said you need help and support in a more personnel way. Like talking to someone direct and that's what I had with Paul Johns. It costs nothing to pick up the phone and have a chat with someone who has experience in these matters.

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 22:04:09 Hi everyone and thanks for your replies!
I do not think that what anyone has said is offensive at all so no need to worry about that!
Yes I fully agree that it is down to the individual and the complexity of their case.
I just feel that my case is slightly complicated by the fact that I am due to go BR on 05/01/09, finish my job on 15/01/09 for 1 year and then to leave the country for 1 year on 27/01/09.
There are a few other things which worry me also but they are not too major - having a look at the IS Website's BRU / BRO cases makes me think that what I have done is not really all that bad.
As Debtrider said above, I just feel like I need help and support through it all and afterwards, and please don't get me wrong - I have had loads of help and support on the Forum here - everyone has been great - I just feel that for my own peace of mind it would help me a lot and I must admit I feel a bit bad keep coming on here asking the same questions and being all negative and worrying!!!
That's just my thoughts...

I dont think anyone is offending anyone with this subject, its just one of those that we all have our own opinion on.
I would not worry. :-)

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 19:33:03 Hello dazed and confused
I used Paul Johns at Reviva UK who was fantastic and guided me through whole bankruptcy process from start to finish.
I met up with Paul initially in May of this year to discuss my debt situation, which lasted a few hours and was completely free, and then decided to pay for his expert help.
My case was not particularly complicated but I felt I needed support, as I had no one else to turn to. He wrote letters to all my creditors and contacted them by phone when I stopped paying them. I still had calls from creditors but feel there would have been a lot more if Reviva UK had not helped me. He helped me fill in my SOA and all the court papers and came to court with me so I did not have to do anything. He offered me valuable advice prior to my bankruptcy. He then came to my interview with the OR and although I had to answer all the questions asked of me by the OR, he was there to offer help on any questions I did not fully understand. Paul Johns will still offer any advice and support that I need during the next 12 months, so he just doesn’t say goodbye once you’ve gone bankrupt. Everyone’s circumstances are different and some may know more than others when going bankrupt. I felt I needed support and I would have probably made many mistakes if it had not been for Paul Johns of Reviva UK, and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing assistance in bankruptcy.

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 19:10:53 Hi D&C
I DO NOT wish to offend anyone on the forum but i feel that my case was very straightforward therefore, once i had an initial chat with a couple of experts, i realised i could do it on my own. Alternatively, if i did have a very complex case then i suppose would have looked more into assisted br specialist.
Therefore i would have to agree with skippy, purely based on my individual circumstances.
I dont rate CAB at all (again, purely based on my experiance and advice from them), and found more help, advice and support from this site.

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 19:06:46 I totally agree with Skip & Jo it is personal choice you can do it using free resourses or BR assist. But, if it is complex and you feel you need help BR assist may be for you.
At the end of the day it has to be your choice. :-) |

Posted - 24 November 2008 : 18:58:13 Hi D&C
I would def say that its down to 1, Personal choice and 2, how compliated your case is and if you feel you can do it alone.
Whilst yes this site is good you dont get all the info you need and if you have many assets that need protecting then i do think that if you have to pay a fee to stop you paying out £1000s to the OR then yes its justifiable.
Its one of those questions again that can be misinterpreted, but it is down to you at the end of the day.
This is also a good one for debate. Again this is my opinion only :-)
Good luck
Jo x
