hi folks,

just thought i'd let the forum know about what happened today.

i went to lloyds tsb to apply for a business account, i put my cards on the table straight away and showed a copy of both my BR order and discharge notice. the lady then said that each case is taken on its merits but they would do a credit check.

I explained that defaults would show up and they would be incorrect as my credit file was not up to date, it showed I was discharged tho as I'd got them from equifax and experian - it seems the OR automatically tells them these days.

After the discharge all defaults must be marked as satisfied, I explained, and I am in the process of sending letters to the data contoller of each creditor to change default dates to the date of the BR and mark as settled at the date of the discharge.

Armed with this the lady proceeded with the credit check and sure enough the defaults were there. after speaking to some collegues on the phone she said she was confident I would get a business account and would let me know, a phone call a while ago confirmed that I had been accepted and I have a new business account with free banking for 18 months (and they are a creditor)

I suppose the point to this story is that being upfront and honest with a bit of luck you might get lucky - at least you'd save time by stating it first - providing there's no fraud and its a straightforward case i think that banks are now more sympathetic - at least Lloyds TSB were.

hi, thanks for all that, i'm in the process of writing to all my creditors for them to correct my files with regards to defaults, this might be worth putting on in a seperate post but its probably been covered already, i'll put the links to the info below anyway.

with regards to the business account i should receive all the cheque book/paying in slips last week in November, ie thursday but I do have the account number.

THIS VERY IMPORTANT INFO CAN BE READ HERE...!

PS i cannot understand why barclays use experian to search but do not have details of my ccard account, nor is it on equifax, and for that matter AMEX neither, does anyone know who they use?

Hey Antp

I wanted to add my congrats on that, let us know when you get all the details and it is set up.

But at least that has given some hope to others on here, who may be worrying that they may not be able to get one when discharged.

LOL

hi integrity,

well yes, they had given me a welcome pack and something to sign which i did in the office, on the form was a sort code/ acc number, she called me and confirmed i'd received the account - i asked her when i would receive everything but she said if i needed the account number it was on the form i'd signed - so yes.

i want to try and resurrect my dormant merchant account so i needed my new banking details.

Ant thanks for this post it has been very informative.

So you have received the formal notification of account number etc??

Banks have been under the microscope latley, maybe they are starting to implement the FSA-TCF "Treating Clients Fairly" Lets hope so :*)

hi thanks for that, i hasten to add that there was no borrowing attached - as i did not want or expect - but a business account all the same. to anyone else interested don't be put off banks because they might be a creditor or that you wont get it. it was my first application post bankruptcy so I was surprised.

I also found a lot of good info both on here and the bankruptcy posings on the moneysavingexpert.com forums.

Ant

Thats great news for you - especially being a creditor too. Gives those needing the same facilities some hope.

Also, i managed to open an account with Lloyds TSB, and even got a debit card....They too knew my situation, so maybe are also becoming more br friendly

Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

xx
