Posted - 28 November 2008 : 17:18:27 Hi Jo
I do think that if your OH wants to keep it then keep making the payments, if they do close it down then you can include that amount whilst BR, after you have notified the OR.

Posted - 27 November 2008 : 15:44:10 I didn't declare my mobile contract on the forms when I went BR, and when I mentioned it to the OR she wasn't interested. We've got a home phone, but it's not in my name so I put my mobile down as phone expenses.
I've still got my Vodafone contract and I've carried on paying as normal, and I've had an upgrade without any problems.

Posted - 27 November 2008 : 12:57:06 Hi TD
It depends how much you spend with them.I have only just agreed my I & E due to moving and I was spending £35.00 a month with Vodafone and I didnt think they would allow that and a home phone. When I told vodafone they cancelled my contract straight away even though I know some people have been allowed to keep. However Teso mobile are doing top up £15.00 and you get £30.00 of credit free.Top up £20.00 and you get £40.00 credit free so I am going to switch.

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 21:25:18 Hi, 3 mths into my BRy and I have just continued to use my mobile as normal (contract) and pay them every month as promised. Never told them I am BR either. Is this wrong? Still not had interview with OR so none the wiser really!

Is this with a 12 or 18 month contract or is it one of the offers you get on a month to month basis with them, and if so have you already passed the initial time with them.....I used to have virgin 4 for £40 offer (tv, phone, broadband & mobile sim), and not sure if this is different to a 'normal' phone contract.
It may be worth an anonymous call to them

Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 17:25:36 Hi Amanda
That would be down to 2 factors.
1/ The OR and if you have a home phone then the OR may or may not allow in your I&E but if you had money left from your DI you could pay this anyhow.
2/ The company themselves, you would need to find out what there procedure is with regards to BR's after you have been declared as my O2 one was closed and cancelled by O2 once they knew, but saying that Virgin may not worry and let you keep it.
LOL

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 16:59:49 Hi all
I have a question about mobiles seeings as we are talking about them. My hubby and I both have virgin contracts for £10 a month. We are up to date with payments and would probably spend more than £10 a month on pay as you go. Does anyone think we would be alright to keep them?
Cheers.

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 15:00:28 Hey if its only an upgrade and not a new account then the OR may not be quite so harsh.
I thought you had started new phone contracts and not renewed them.
Anyhow let me know if i can help anymore

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 14:25:05 ok phoned orange and they will not take it back as its outside off the 14 day cooling off period, so have both just been into town and got pay as you go sims, so have stopped using the mobiles now, this is one that we have to just face the music with, his only defense is that he has been on contract with orange for ever and this was an upgrade that carried a new contract, so hope that it helps the situation..............fingers crossed

Posted - 26 November 2008 : 11:37:35 Yes and no really Jo.
I doubt if the store will take it back, but anything is worth a try.
If you have not made any payments to it then the OR will def not be impressed with you.
You could contact your supplier and explain that you now cant afford to keep it and what would they suggest doing as the contract is so new that it may mean that the OR would impose a BRU on you and depending on how they feel it may be about 3 years or so.
It can be looked upon as taking with no intent of paying, if you see what i mean.
Let us know what happens with it.
