Hi all, just a quick question: Do you have to be present in the UK to deal with the OR or can it be done via phone from another country - If I understand correctly you must be present for the BR hearing with the judge but is there any reason why you could not then deal with the OR via the phone? Thanks in advance

Sorry forgot to say that the petition is granted on the same day.

You can start the process at 10am paying fees, then a long walk to the Thomas Moore Building and stand in line. Expect to swear an oath by 11am - 11.30 ish.

You will then be asked to return at 2.30 to collect your Br Order.

It is unlikely that you will get a call from the OR on the same day - they are just too busy. In London it is usually within a week

Hi

you need to petition in the court that has jurisdiction for the area in which you have lived for the majority of the last 6 months.

The High Court is where folks in central London petition, in addition to people who are abroad and no longer qualify for using the Local courts.

Incidentally the fee in London is £507 not £495

Thanks for all your help paul, much appreciated. BTW, if I lodge the petition at the High Court in the Strand - is it correct that it will likely be dealt with on the same day? If so, will have an interview with the OR on the same day?

Hi

there is no reason at all you shouldn't be abroad.
If you are leaving the country etc then certainly worth advising the OR so they can contact you accordingly.

If you are on holiday ( yes people in Bnkruptcy are allowed a holiday ) then let the OR know. they may wait until you return to have the interview.
