Posted - 29 November 2008 : 17:40:31 my partner is going bankrupt and the bank (HSBC) have without warning frozen our joint account that we use to pay household bills even though its within out Overdraft limit. Can they do this?
i noticed they had done this when i tried to transfer some money into the account using internet banking, and found i coudnt. they have not replied to my emails asking them whats wrong.

Posted - 29 November 2008 : 19:34:05 i would suggest going into your nearest branch and explaining the situation, the bank is quite within its rights to freeze any account with your oh name on it after br, if he hasnt yet gone br...then i doubt very much if it has anything to do with br as the bank wont act untill they have had official conformation of br.
