Hi.

Just wondered about whether the OR checks dvla records for your registered vehicles when going bankcrupt.

On the br forms in assets, i was going to declare our car, but was not going to bother with our little van, year 2000, as it is in bad condition and ran out of MOT in September. It will need a lot of work done to it and we just don't have the money to put it through.

Will they just take it off us? Have no idea what it's worth with no mot.

hi Bassmomma

I would leave the van untouched and let the OR deal with it, they may not be interested but if you get it through then sell it so close to your BR then the OR may not be too pleased with you.

HI, not sure that is such a good idea as you would e building your debt up more, or might not view that so well. Not entirely sure on this though so see what someone else thinks as well.

So would it be worth borrowing money to get it through a mot and sell it at a proper price rather than scrap it.

This way it would fund the BR fees.

As i have said it should be included in the SoA even if the OR does not take it.

its very unlikely the or will take it, it would cost more to collect and sell than its worth...not too sure if you should list or not....someone with more knowledge should be along shortly.

Hi they do go through the DVLA to see what you have had in the past but not too far back a year or so and to make sure that you have not sold a vehicle under value, or changed the docs just to stop it being included in the BR.

If you were thinking of changing any car docs to say a friend or other then this could be over turned and then the OR is quite within their rights to claim it back.

You would have to declare the van whether its working or not as the OR may well dispose of it.

Hope that helps.
