Hello

I went BR on 24th June this year and yesterday i recieved a letter from the OR to say that i as of the 28th Nov been discharged from my BR and if i want a cetificate i can purchase one by contacting them

Anyway my question is what does this mean for me? Do i need to get a copy of the certificate?? Am i still bound by the rules of disclosing my BR to banks etc (even though i dont want credit etc) Can i run a company now etc??

Any advice much appreciated

Tanya

Hi Hammy

I agree with John, have a look at the register as it may have been updated for you.

Hi hammy

it's taken a week for Tanya to be notified by the OR, have you checked the insolvency register?

You never know - I have my fingers crossed.

Tanya,

Congratulations, i bet you feel great.

I haven't heard a word from the OR since sending back the updated I&E's (there was no change in mine either), certainly nothing to tell me my creditors had received the ED request and nothing mentioning 28 days. I guess based upon your experience i am at the very best at least 28 days away then. Oh well at worst i have 6 1/2 months to go.

Trolly-Dolly

Still nothing happened with my house. I wrote to the OR in July informing them that my wife would like to buy the BI but heard nothing back. We did make an offer back then which on todays expected valuation we shouldn't of done as i don't believe there is any equity left in the house. It is a little frustrating not knowing what will happen but as they have 3 years to deal with it i don't suppose i have much choice. Hoping to get ED before Xmas, that would be nice.

Wow, thats good news Hammy.
I used to follow your story over on IVA back in April.
What happened to your home in the end?

Hi Guys

The OR do not always send a new I&E when thinking of ED, they can just apply for it say if you dont have an IPA or the money you have coming in is purely benefits and so there would be no change and then the OR can apply anyhow without us even knowing.

I wish ;-)

Congratulations Tanya!
Did you not have any idea that this was going to happen? Did they send you an IPAQ to complete? Do you have an IPA?
Sorry so many questions, but you are just that one step ahead!

Hi Tanya

Congrats on ED thats great news. :-)

The cert can come in handy as some banks or mortgage co's may ask to see a document that you have been discharged from your BR, you can go onto the insolvency site and just print off the notifcation once it shows that you are now discharged.

You will also need to update your credit files and make sure old creditors update their info too.

So 5 months down you were discharged, there is hope for me as mine is exactly 4 months today. Oh well lets wait and see.

You dont have to pay the £60 for the cert you can just print off.
