Posted - 04 December 2008 : 15:36:33 Hi folks,
I have a couple of questions, concerning bankruptcy, redundancy and emmigration, can anyone help?
I am currently BR, and there is a chance I may be made redundant soon, how would the OR view any redundancy payment I may get? At present I don't have an IPA as such although they did say they wanted my tax, which hasn't happened yet, this month it may start.
Also, I may emmigrate abroad next year anyway, and any payment I get would probably be needed to set myself up when I get there, i.e Rental property, shipping some stuff (including dog!), furniture, and maybe a cheap car.
I understand I can deal with the OR from abroad, but I am concerned about the redundancy as if I do go abroad I'm gonna be starting from scratch and the more money I can scrape together the better.
If anyone can give me some solid advice it would be most appreciated.
Many thanks

There would still be a claim, but that's where the negotiation would come in.

If you didn't have a job to go to would they have a claim on it, if it was your only income and you had to live on it? |

The OR indeed would have a claim on any redundancy payments during your BR. However, my understanding is that this can be negotiated.
