I'm in a situation where I can no longer service my debts due to other businesses owing money and not paying or going bust and the general downturn.
The main issue I have is that as a photographer I earn money from stock images. Does anyone know how such things are viewed by the courts - as assets or an essential tool for earning money?

If you are considering bankruptcy you are still allowed to earn a living. You may need to look at how much your stock images have earned you in the past 12 months and take an average figure. This is what the OR will do.
Any more detailed info then the helpline is a good next step

It depends on how the information is presented to the OR. Why not speak to one of my colleagues on the helpline who can advise you further?
