Hi all,

This has probably been asked before but I cant seem to find an answer. I was wondering what was the process with the bank account being frozen and how long it takes. I'm with Co-op already so think they will be ok with the bankruptcy but wondering about the timescale after going to see the OR and stuff and how quickly the account will be frozen and then be made available again - just thinking about DD's and stuff

Thanks

Gavin

Hi Totalgav
I already had a cashminder account with the Co op and the OR said they weren't interested in it.The account was ok for a few weeks after BR and then suddenly it was frozen.I had to get in touch with OR and they had to fax over saying they weren't interested but it took 2 days to get it up and running again. It might be worth double checking with your OR that they are not going to get in touch with the Co op as when mine was frozen my car insurance didn't get paid and I was charged £20 for a returned direct debit.Hopefully mine was a one off and good luck

Hi Gav

Providing you have no debt with the bank and that you make it clear to the OR that the monies in the account is for your essential living costs and DD's then the OR should allow you to keep the account open, you may also have to contact the bank and inform them also that this is what you want done and that the OR should allow the account to remain open.

As long as you have no debts with them and not 100's of excess pounds then it should be ok. If its frozen by the bank which may NOT happen it can take a couple of weeks to sort out.
