Morning Everyone,

I have a question regarding IPAs.

AT our telephone interview I don't think the OR was interested in an IPA as we had little, or no DI. That, however, has now changed since the reduction in mortgage payments and, although I haven't worked it out yet (taking into account adding car breakdown cover etc as this was with our bank account that we could not use any more) I am almost certain that it will take us into the IPA threshold.

My question is, when does an IPA take effect. I know that you have to keep your nil tax money to one side, however, with Christmas, we have spent the extra bit of money that we had.

Here's hoping for some good news........

Hi Jayne

No they wont back date it, the IPA would take affect once the form is signed by the OR/Examiner then it will start from the date they sign it.

I know what you mean about the tax code money we have been paying ours for the last 2 months and we had to write/call them again as my OH had a pay rise so that had to be changed.

ALl done now but i cant see why the OR just cant claim it back themselves at the end of the year and why we have to do it.

Never mind eh we will get there in the end:-)

Hi Jo,

I knew you'd be the first to answers - thanks!!!

To clarify, if I signed the agreement in January then would the first payment be made in January and not backdated to when the new mortgage payment took effect, which was 1st December? I sincerely hope this is the case!

I have received the correspondence from Moonbeevers regarding my NT tax money, however, my husband has still not received his, however, he did have a discrepancy with the amount of tax the OR was going to take so his took a couple of weeks longer than mine. I have not had an NT tax code yet, I will be interested to see if will be implemented in December's pay packet - it hardly seems worth it otherwise!

Hi Jayne

If they do give you an income IPA it will come into effect once you have received the paperwork, are happy and signed it then returned it, i would not worry about the extra from your mortgage at the moment but make sure that until you know where to send your NT code money do keep to one side once it has taken effect.

You will need to inform the OR of the change in income as we did with my OH's payrise which after informing the OR of that rise we also had to inform Tax credits so we got with the left and taken with the right so still not enough for an Income IPA.
