Hi All - long time no post!

We have been in the process of a move from our mortgaged property to a rental - we are at last sorted and the email is back up and running.

Question is what to do with the now empty & uninsured property.

Natural thing appears to be a VP back to the mortgage provider - is this the correct solution? There is no equity so the OR is not likely to be interested.

Also we moved a couple of weeks back - what happens to council tax - I assume we are no longer responsible for it at the old address as we no longer live there - correct or not? If not what is the usual course of action?

hi jo i sent it special delivery and i can track it online they should receive it before one tomorrow so maybe i will hear something after christmas we go br mid jan so hopefully we will hear before then i will be glad when january is out of the way mind you be glad when 2008 is gone has been the worst year ever we have lost so much but i guess it could have been worse

Did you post back with proof of postage so that you have it for your records that they would have received it.

The Mortgage co will soon get in contact, but how long is like asking how long is a piece of string, they may do it quickly but on the other hand in thies current market they make take longer.

Once you have the proove they have the keys i would say that would be the start of it.

hi all how long does it take for the mortgage provider to accept possession we posted our keys back today it was not the nicest of days but we had no choice and i am also still paying buildings insurance on it, just in case i guess ,till i know they have accepted possession again

You need to let the council know that the property is empty and they will exempt it from council tax. As far as I know, you are still responsible until the mortgage provider accepts possession.
