Posted - 26 December 2008 : 23:24:06 I understand that the fact that someone seeking to be declared bankrupt this results in a notice in local newspapers to this effect making this public knowledge - is this true?

Posted - 27 December 2008 : 20:55:47 Hi susand
I was soooooo worried about this and there was no need to - mine went in wih a list of about 50/60 others and it was such a small notice that you would have to be looking for me. The funny thing is mine didnt even go into my local paper.
As Jo says, if there is a valid reason then it would not go in there anyway if the reason was accepted by the or.
Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)
From "Moneyworries" to "Movin On" in 3 months is fantastic :-))

Posted - 27 December 2008 : 09:19:53 Hi Susand & welcome
Yes, once you have been declared bankrupt the OR will instruct the local paper to print the details although i must admit i never saw mine in the back somewhere and only the really sad people read that bit.
It will also go in the London Gazette and the Insolvency website.
Under certain circumstances you can apply for a stay of advertisment but that would have to be under special circumstances like your family could be put in danger should your details be made public.
Best of luck and keep posting.
