Hi
If you have a lease premises then the "ownership" of the lease belongs to the Official Receiver once you petition for bankruptcy. Therefore because you are a business with a premises the OR will attend as soon as they become aware of the court order and your premises.
Bankruptcy in my view is all about dignity, control, timing and planning to minimise stress and aggravation.
If you are hoping to continue with business at a premises then you would do well to discuss the situation with either the helpline or an assisted bankruoptcy specialist.
If you are planning to leave the premises then you should really get yourself sorted before going to court.
The very worst thing to do is to rush. Rushing is a recipe for disaster.

If for example like us you have a shop, would you take your tools of the trade out and store them at home on the court date, as our friend who recently went bankcupt had her shop locks changed on the day of court and hasnt been able to get any tools out? |

"excessive" tools of the trade would however be lost.
So if for example you had a £10k van the official receiver would expect you to downgrade this.
Similarly if you have a new cement mixer at £5k it is likley that the OR would again expect you to downgrade this.

Hi Roy and Welcome
I assume that your asking that if you declare BR then can you continue to work.
The answer would be dependent on your job as certain professions are restricted but if your say a builder or something like that then yes you can, your tools of the trade should remain with you as you would need them in order to work and so the OR should not take them from you, but that would be dependent on the value and necessity of the tools.
Again all proovable to the OR.
Dont know if that is what you asked.
